In an attempt to create a complete ecosystem with its messaging app, Facebook is beta testing a full-blown web browser in its app for iOS and later for Android in a few months following it. It shall help users to visit sites without leaving the Facebook app.

The Facebook app has seen around 800 million users as per a recent survey and when many share updates, status, posts they often have URLs attached to them. In order to make the user experience even more engaging Facebook decided to adapt something that LinkedIn has done with its mobile app a few months ago. Yes, there have been similar attempts to allow a full-fledged web-browser into the app itself so that users dont have to leave and toggle between applications when chatting or reading a post. This is just annoying at times to go back and forth between two applications, and moreover breaks your concentration with frequent shifts of attention.

The feature is said to add a good aesthetic presence to the application, allow users to bookmark sites, toggle forward and backward between posts with a two buttons at the bottom, and a menu button that might also add a few more features and settings on top of it. The reports were found on thenextweb.com on Sunday, which means that the authenticity of the news cannot be speculated much. However, there seems to be one single downside to this browser, which, according to the same reports would not feature tab support. As the new browser is very close to approximating as a full-fledged app, it shall not be quite far to see revisions and new features getting added subsequently.

One thing that may bug people right now is that the in-app browser is said to be released for iOS users only without any news about releasing it for the biggest market share of Android users. However, as the practice goes, if a smaller subset of users shows a good response, as with all features, this new browser shall also receive a wider public release in a few months after the initial release. Its even better since the initial small release shall help get feedback and further improve the product in time for a wider audience. Thus, it is worth waiting to see the way it enhances the user experience and its effect on the data charges.
